This application was designed for the 3pi barcode program. We decided not to go to the trouble of creating a GUI application for this utility, since it was simple and wasn't very likely to be used often. Instead, we wrote a C++ console application to do the trick for us. A screenshot is shown below.
The generator creates .ppm image files containing the barcode-encoded message entered. The .ppm format can be opened by any image-editing software (we used GIMP) and printed onto standard size 8.5x11" paper. One sheet of paper (i.e., one file) is needed to encode 4 characters. The filenames for each barcode are numbered, starting with 0. The image files themselves have small dots at the bottom, indicating the direction and number of the contained barcode.
